5 Creative Ways to Use QR Codes

February 15, 2012

qrcodeWith mobile marketing taking off in a big way, it’s important to look at how many ways you can incorporate these tactics into current strategies. I started looking at the ways QR codes can be used to promote various parts of an organization. Here’s my quick list on ways to incorporate QR codes:

1. URL Link

One of the most popular ways of implementing a QR code. Point a QR code to a *mobile-friendly* URL that highlights an exclusive sale or quick contact form for instant conversion.

2. Google Maps

Great for on-the-go audiences. Advertising a local event? Give your promotion a little added help by linking a QR code to the Google map directions of where the event will be held. Your audience will have the address and directions right at their fingertips making it easy to get to you.

3. Social Media Links

Share a quick way for your audience to connect with you on their preferred mobile social platform. From Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, offer up an immediate way to engage with your audience with unique, social content that they would not otherwise receive on your organization’s website.

4. Contact information

Give your potential customers/clients an immediate connection with you. Once they snap the QR code, let it import your contact information in their phone – complete with full name, title, business, phone, and email address.

5. SMS Message

Perhaps you don’t want to share a link or anything on the mobile web but an exclusive message that is reserved only for those that come across your QR code on a print or web-based ad. For a quick example, this could be a great option for a brink-and-mortar location, captivating an audience on one medium, sharing an exclusive medium on mobile, bringing those potential customers into your doors, and turning them into loyal customers.

This is just a small sample of what you could do with QR codes and begin to develop an effective campaign. And with those listed above, there are a million and one additional ways to effectively use those tactics. Think about your current organizational goals and think how you might incorporate mobile marketing, such as QR codes in your strategy.

Happy Marketing!
