Waking Hours

August 10, 2014

We take our Sunday mornings slow.

The 3E’s put forth the effort to just say “relax,” and sit down on the couch for another rendition of Winnie the Pooh or yesterday’s Pioneer Woman. Between the singing and cooking, Mads plays with her dollhouse as I sip on my bottomless cup of coffee, staring at her little curls and stealing glances from my bubbs. It’s just us. And I couldn’t be happier.

When we decide to slowly peel ourselves from the comfort of our early morning, I make my way to get ready for the day. Sometimes, Mads likes to tag along. When that happens, I smile on the outside, but my insides are filled with excitement. Yes, I get downright gitty when my little one wants to hang out with me.

And now I’m convinced it’s because she can score extra cuddles inside the “big bed.”

She doesn’t sleep in our bed at night, however if and when she is given the opportunity, she will {attempt to} climb into our king size bed and sink into the comforter abyss. To say she looks completely comfortable would be an understatement.

She whispers, “climb in, mama!” How does a mama say no to that sweet voice?

So, I climb in and the giggle-fest, sing-a-long begins. Time seems to stand still in this perfect moment between an almost two year old tot and an almost thirty year old mama.

Wishing these moments would carry on well into her thirties might just be a dream, but living out each day in the hopes that I’m granted another snuggle session with this sweet face is more than enough for me.

Thanks for filling my heart, bug.

Wishing all of you the best Sunday. xo
