Week in Review: Turning a New Leaf

June 16, 2013

The title this week definitely encompasses all areas of my life for the past few days. It’s always a great adventure – both in my personal and professional life. And with so many milestones, new lessons, and updates, it’s only appropriate that I dedicate this post to those updates.

Here we roll…

A New Leaf :: #EatSleepMarket

First, I started the week with finally starting to feel like my normal self after something fierce had a hold of me the previous week. But then, boom, my little flower was hit with the sickness. And it was the exact same symptoms as her mama. No fun! So, when I started work on Monday, nearing the end of this grossness, Mads’ daycare gave me the buzz and alerted me to a fever. NOOO! Man, just getting ready to get my week rolling, but my babes needs me. On my way to get her, I opened up my Halls [thanks to my hubbs for running out at night for helping sooth a cough-attack] and was presented with the best little reminders. I needed that this week. It was perfect and helped me remember that I’m strong. And with the right mindset, remembering most of things in life are putting mind over matter, nothing is unattainable.

Second, Mads celebrated her 9 months this week! Time is flying. She’s a constant reminder that moments are fleeting and it’s important to cherish each and every one of them. With those moments, growth will continue to happen. And it’s awesome. Just awesome.

Third, the hubbs and I finally spent a night without our babe. It was…difficult. Nerve wrecking. But after a few hours, I eased up and started to enjoy my date night with J. Once we woke up in the morning, we dashed off to pick her up from the grandparents’ house and all was well. I need to remember that grandparents are more than just that. They are the glorified, all-knowing masters of grandbabies. They have a way to calm, ease, love and protect those little ones like no other. Their unconditional love is on another level, or so I think 🙂 And that was visible to me. I learned that my parents are not only mine, but they also belong to Mads with a different, but very special connection.

Finally, we are celebrating Father’s Day today. What a special day to remember those men in our lives that have done, and continue to do, so much for us.  As my husband celebrates his first dad’s day, I look at him in a new light. He is now not only seen as my best friend, my partner, the love of my life. He is a teacher, a tender heart, and the best bedtime storyteller.  My dad, Mads’ grandpa, continues to surprise me each time we are together, and as Mads continues to grow, the bond between the two strengthens, and it’s magical.

So, the subject of turning a new leaf looks towards growth and how we evolve in our roles in life. We continue to become stronger, love harder, work smarter. Nothing can hold us back, except us. If we give into thinking we can’t move forward or accomplish a task, we won’t. Let’s get moving, crush those goals, and keep on keepin’ on!
