Making the Commitment

April 16, 2014

So, you sat down with yourself and discussed the pro’s and con’s. Maybe you’re like me and grabbed your notebook and took way too long to write down each itty bitty pro and con in bullet-list form. Maybe you’re like my hubs and enter reminders into your Blackberry or iPad. Regardless, you know all the options. The “should I or shouldn’t I”‘s were debated. They wrestled around in your mind and heart.

You know the answer. You know what should be done, but you are held back for a moment.

It’s pushing through the moment that not only makes you stronger but puts you on the path to a better something.

That’s what I decided to do – I pushed on through to the other side. A series of commitments, no matter how big or small, that I made for myself and my family to live a better life.

{It helped that I spotted the poster below. Truly inspiring. The words matched exactly what I was feeling and going through in the moments of transition. I hope it speaks to you.}

The Commitments

+Eat like you love yourself :: homemade meals during the work week. prepping on the weekend is helpful but not required. greens & proteins are priority. not always clean but 100% beneficial to our bodies and soul. cooking together is a bonus and always welcome.

+Move like you love yourself :: running became my new hobby late last year and I’m still working on it but still in love with it. 6-10 miles a week. plus, outside weekend time with our lil miss is a must as we move swiftly into “sprummer” in StL (just combining the two because let’s be honest – these two seasons just meld together…)

+Speak like you love yourself :: attempting {successfully} to end the self-hate talk. eliminating the negative remarks I sometimes whisper to myself, remembering that it’s not just me those words will hurt. encouraging others to do the same.

+Act like you love yourself :: live with intent. a daily reminder that is necessary. I’m constantly aware of the commitments I set forth and continue to follow through with them.

Have you thought about your commitments? Maybe they are for just you or perhaps part of the bigger picture.
