Hot Date! Party of One

March 20, 2014

Oh my goodness. Love me a date night. Hanging out with my girlfriends or one-on-one time with my hubs can’t be beat…EXCEPT by a once-in-a-while self date.
Have you had one lately?
Let me tell you…

Hot Date! Party of One? Four Adventures :: eat. sleep. market.

The focus? You
What do you do? Anything you want to do.
But who do you hang out with? You. Only you.

There will always be a million little reasons why you can’t find time for yourself. I ask you to put those on pause for just one moment. For one, if you have a million + one reasons, you’re already a rockstar and fulfilling everyone else’s wishes. Second, if you don’t take a moment for yourself, when will you? If you are in fact a rockstar {and let’s be honest, you are}, I have a sneaking suspicion you want need to do this. Not only for you but also for those you love.

We perform our best when we are at our best.

One easy way to achieve our best state of mind and body is to stay relaxed and rested. This is done by dating yourself. Simply stated.
Here are my top four “me” dates:

01 Make a dish with your favorite ingredients.
Whether you live with family, roommates or a significant other, you may be cooking to cater the masses or even cooking to beat the clock. The same could be if you live alone. Time is not always on our side, and we try to throw together what we have on hand. Instead, set aside one evening and plan the menu. {I understand this might take some time to figure out, which will make the evening that much more relaxing and special. Make sure you reserve the evening just for this. No interruptions.} Whether it’s one course or several, think about what you love and treat yourself with your favorite dish just the way you like it. Don’t forget to set the table and gussy it up with flowers. You deserve it!

02 Take a moonlit stroll // drive with your favorite tunes.
Spring is officially here, and we are in for some nice evenings. It’s time to make a playlist of your favorite, favorite, favorite hits that you are embarrassed to sing out loud while in the company of others/are timeless classics that you could put on repeat/songs that put you right back to a specific time and place that you just can’t get enough of and rock out! Whether it’s for an evening or morning walk or drive, take that playlist out and enjoy.

03 Tea//coffee session.
I adore this option. My ultimate go-to and quickly becoming a semi-ritual for one weeknight every so often. One, I’m becoming friends with the barista, and she’s making great suggestions I would normally not consider. Two, it’s deliberate down-time and a treat for my soul. In the evenings, after my little one is tucked in, I leave my hubs at home for a moment, take myself and my book to a coffee place and unwind. Much of the time, I sit in silence, listening to music, people watch, read or play a game of Sudoku. I reflect on the achievements of the day, look at everything I have, remember how lucky I am and return home with a smile on my face.

04 Staycation time – visit a landmark//museum//park.
Is there a place that you have been eager to visit but for one excuse or another, you just haven’t? We all have one. Now’s the time. I just GAVE you the excuse to go do it. No putting off the fun and excitement anymore.

Now, go! Enjoy, ladies!

These are so cute! I love the sentiment “we perform our best when we are at our best.” Sometimes it’s just nice to shake up the daily routine too

I completely agree with the shake up. The daily grind came become very taxing and therefore, the fun just washes away. I’m very much in favor of making this time a deliberate intention to make us feel {emotionally and physically} better. Hope you have something planned soon! 🙂
