Holiday Staple: Snickerdoodles!

December 17, 2013

We’re eating on the blog today. Oh. My. Goodness. I seriously cannot get snickerdoodles off the brain so I just did it – I made them. The recipe? Amazing. Should you try this recipe? Yes, why haven’t you yet? Oh, that’s right – I haven’t shared it yet. Well, read on already! It’s too simple not too. Total crowd pleasers. Need a reason? IT’S THE HOLIDAYS – WHY NOT? Share with your neighbor, your cat, your daughter, your friend at the gym trying to lose weight. Just do it.

Here we go –

First, preheat that oven to 375. Grab two cookie sheets and lightly grease them. Yes, there is butter but this will just make sure these suckers will pop right off.

Next? Mix up the dry ingredients. 3 C flour – 2 1/2 tsp Cinnamon –  1 tsp baking soda – 2 tsp cream of tartar – 1/2 tsp salt

Third, in a separate bowl, mix up a little bit of sugar and cinnamon. Put to the side and reserve this for when you’re ready to roll the dough into balls.

Fourth, let’s get the wet ingredients going. In a mixer, cream up 1 cup of room temperature butter. Very important for this butter to be room temperature. Once creamed, put in 1 1/3 cups of granulated sugar. Mix, mix, mix some more. Once those are incorporated and fluffy, mix in the 1 large egg and 2 tsp of vanilla. Now it’s starting to smell heavenly.Snickerdoodles! :: #EatSleepMarketOnce those wet ingredients are mixed together, start adding in the dry ingredients. This will be a very thick dough. I needed to turn the mixer off and finish the mixing by hand.

After all that fun mixing is over, bring back that reserved sugar and cinnamon. Start rolling out tablespoon balls of the dough. Once in ball, roll in the sugar/cinnamon mixture and place on baking sheet.

Bake these suckers for about 10 minutes – they are quick! {Thank goodness!} And there you have it!! The most perfect holiday cookie!Snickerdoodles! :: #EatSleepMarket

They are definitely light, fluffy and soft for days after baking. So yum, yum, yummy.

Are you baking holiday cookies this year? What are your favorite treats??
