Fall Bucket List

November 5, 2014

Happy November, friends! One holiday down. Two to go. Love this time of year. It’s full of traditional favorites, family and friends, coziness, cuddles and all that good stuff {in addition to all of the decadent recipes and comfort food}. I can’t get enough. And now that Mads is getting a little older, she’s starting to share in the wonderment, adopting traditions and loving on this chilly weather. Heck, she started singing a few Christmas tunes this past Sunday. I was a little surprised {and giddy and thankful and SO happy} that she started so soon, but hey, I think she’ll fit right in with this holiday-lovin’ family 🙂

Our fall bucket list is simple and we are crushing it. I’m so thankful!

01. Apple picking // done and done.

01A. Apple recipes until we can’t stand it anymore! // This was fantastic. We also made apple chips and caramel apples. We’re not done yet 😉

02. Pumpkin decorating // We decided to do something a little different this year. Instead of carving pumpkins, we decorated them with glow in the dark paint! Mads

02A. Pumpkin something recipe. // Attempted the pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies + homemade pumpkin spice lattes. FAIL. However, I did make my own pumpkin puree, which was pretty awesome and highly recommended!

03. Jump into + play in a huge pile of leaves. // Thanks to my awesome bubbs, he blew all of the leaves into the back yard and we racked them into a huge pile. And continued to jump and get lost among the hundreds of leaves. Looking for a quick way to get a kid tired? Show them a leaf pile! 🙂

04. Snag our first red cups from Starbucks. // We are ridiculous, I know, but we are big on ringing in the holidays, folks! And this year, Mads was able to have her first red cup 🙂 It’s the little things. She absolutely loved her hot chocolate!

05. Backyard bonfires. // The best time. There’s something about sitting in front of a fire that sparks the best conversations.

06. Pumpkin beer. // Schlafly – thank you!

07. Nature walk + treasure hunt. // Still need to do this, but I’m excited to go with Mads and create something great! Hopefully a table centerpiece.

08. Add a new comfort food recipe to the mix. // When colder weather hits, we hit the crock pot hard. We make soups a lot. It’s very hearty + filling with tons of great fall veggies. I’m not in a rut but I definitely want to add a few new recipes to our rotation. Afterall, Pinterest is just rocking…

09. Pack up + give away. // Time to sort the clothes and give away what we don’t need and/or pack it up.

10. Make a homemade bird feeder. // Still in love with the craft Jen did with her girl. Easy + perfect.

Leaving you with a few snaps to document the fun so far!

Glow in the dark paint for pumpkins sounds really fun! And I love the idea of a nature walk to create a fall tablescape. Lately my son has been collecting lots of natural “treasures” (his word) — mostly rocks, acorns, and leaves. I just grabbed a jar out of the pantry and designated it the “treasure jar” since I was getting sick of finding rocks in the washing machine that had never left his pockets!

Love it! And that’s so funny…we have the same thing. It’s an old Crystal Light container. I ripped off the label and she collects her “treasures”, too. I love that you guys have that!! I found a post about doing a fall mobile – let’s put the treasures to work 🙂

LOVE IT! I’m certainly working my way through “pumpkin” recipes until I can’t stand it anymore! Which probably won’t happen. 😉
Our chocolate lab is having a blast straight-up DESTROYING leaf piles in our back yard. She practically swims in them! And your daughter is a girl after my own heart – Starbucks hot chocolate?? #delicious

SO many leaves this year! I bet she’s having the time of her life 🙂 Of course, who could resist a hot chocolate?? 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Blair!
